Book Recommendations

Growing up I really wasn't really into reading so much. The last couple years have definitely changed that! As long as the book pulls me in quickly, I am down to read, and am not afraid to stay in on a Saturday night to finish the book I started 3 days before. Nerd Alert!

Below I've listed a couple of books I have read recently that are really great and would definitely recommend to anyone.

  • The Help - No joke, my favorite book of all time. I actually read this book about 2 years ago, and I'm sure many of you have already read it or have even seen the movie, but I have to gush about it. If you haven't read the it, and have only seen the movie stop what you are doing right now, and go get this book. You hear all this praise for the movie... well it AINT nothin' like the book. As much as I wanted to be in love with the movie, I couldn't help but be upset. The movie cannot even compare to the way the actual book made me feel. I beg you to read this book.

  • Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore - This book was recommended to me by one of my great friends Rachel, when I put out a call for suggestions on FB a few years ago. It truly is inspiring and makes you want to help others that don't have the same privileges as others do.

  • Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts - Looking back on this book, I didn't know that it was written by Nora Roberts (author of the two books below). I am not typically the biggest fiction reader, but since coming across her novels, I have totally opened up to them. This particular book was so difficult for me to put down, I found myself wanting to know more and more as it went on.

  • The Calhouns: Catherine, Amanda, Lilah by Nora Roberts - I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about a mystery/romance novel, but just like her other books, I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next!

  • The Calhouns: Suzanna, Megan by Nora Roberts - Sequel to above book.
  • My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler - Hysterical, disturbing, raunchy, amazing. Enough said.

I am in desperate need of some new recommendations and would love to hear what your faves are. Please do share!

There's a Body Bag on my Doorstep

You may remember me mentioning a few weeks ago about how I tweeted that I love the new Chobani Greek yogurt flavors. Well, the kind people over at the company sent me an awesome package filled with a variety of flavors!

I came home to a big box, and the contents consisted of this:

They didn't tell me they were sending me a human to make the yogurt for me!

Just kidding. That was actually the bag that kept everything cold while it traveled to me... I was wondering how they were going to do that.

Anyway, I was super excited because I eat a Cho every morning for breakfast, and this meant that my yogurt money could be saved for 12 more days! Plus, there were a few flavors in the mix that I hadn't tried yet.

So far, my favorite is the Raspberry. I'm a sucker for anything involving the little fuzzy fruit, so I knew it'd be a hit. Surprisingly enough to me, the Vanilla (which is usually a huge hit with me) wasn't my favorite-- but yes, I still ate the entire thing.

The only downfall was that I opened up the Lemon flavor... and it was less than half full. Not sure what happened there, but the container was completely sealed, so I knew it didn't leak. Oh well, I'll take 11 free anything, any day!

I'm still working on getting through the box, but I have no worries because it will be done. Thanks again, Chobani!

Nice To Meechoo

It's no secret that I take care of baby butts all day, right? Well, that means I get to dress like a scrub and still make money! Unfortunately, dressing like a scrub get's old, real quick, and I find myself longing for a reason to get pretty every now and then. I'm sure Raymond loves that I look like a trash bag every day, too. Sorry, hunny!

Luckily, I know of a cute little apparel company and I was provided with a few cute AND comfy tees. It doesn't really get much better than that! Seriously, I pretty much wear one of these shirts every single day. Below you can see some of the awesome shirt designs and FYI: I am not a very good model!

"Meechoo Apparel sells cute, high-quality garments personalized with female first names and printed with velvety and shimmery, vibrant, durable text. Available in almost 400 names, including 5 different spellings of “Caitlyn.” (We swear.)"

I love every shirt offered and what's cool about them, is that you can mix and match colors and find the one that is perfect for you! What really makes the shirt worth the purchase, is that the letters DON'T fall off or fade after washing. They stay right where they came, and they don't fade. Oh yeah, and the prices are awesome, too. Just a little extra bonus for ya there!

Be sure to stop by and check out the other designs and colors offered on the website or on Facebook!

Mop Head

This crap sucks.

I'm all about using as many "natural" products as possible, when and if they are in my budget. I used to use Tresemme brand for the longest time, until I came across Pantene's Naturals line. Now that stuff works great, and I absolutely love the scent. Well, last time I was at the grocery store, I came across that stuff up there ^^ and it is much cheaper than Pantene. Being a frugal Franny like I am, I was thrilled.

Raymond used it before me and the next morning he woke up with what he calls dandruff. Now, I'm no expert or anything, but I've never heard of someone developing dandruff from a moisturizing shampoo. Maybe that is how it happens? Either way, I chalked it up to the change in weather and said he's a looney toon.

I used the stuff for the first time the other morning. My thoughts:

- Oh this smells goooooood!
- Crap I didn't use enough conditioner
- Dang, still not enough conditioner
- Okay, for real? Third time trying to detangle this mane
- I give up, I'll just comb it out

***HAIR DRIES***

- Dang I need to wash my hair
- Wait, I washed it this morning, didn't I?
- Did I rinse out the conditioner?
- Yeah, 4 times
- This crap sucks

I ended up using a pound of conditioner and then it left my head looking like a wet greasy mop. Stupid.

Do you use any natural products? What kind?

All the other kids...

...with the pumped up kicks, better run, better run..

Okay, sorry. I absolutely loathe that song but ever since I bought new running shoes this afternoon, I can't stop singing it. Ugh.

For the last 6 months I have been on a major excersize kick and find myself waking up at 6:30am M-F to head to the gym. I got sick about a month ago and decided it would be in my best interest to take a few days off. Well, those few days turned into the entire week. That week then turned into only going 2 times a week. And last week, I didn't go a single day. I lost my motivation somewhere and am searching rather profusely to find it.

I've been a mad woman when it comes to searching the web (aka pinterest) to find some new workouts. If anybody has any awesome workouts, please share!

I also think I found a little motivation when I bought my new shoes today. In the past year I've become totally frugal and find it really hard to spend money on myself, even when I really need something. Luckily, Raymond I won a $50 gift card to Academy last weekend and knew exactly what it was going towards. I think when the rubber starts peeling from the bottom of the shoe, it's time to give in and get new ones.

Pretty spiffy, eh? I love Nike and have been eyeing these light-weight tennies for quite some time now. They weigh a few grams, are SO comfortable, and not to mention... they are PURPLE! I'm in love. They were originally $90, on sale for $80, and I had the gift card. Once everything was said and done, with tax I ended up paying $36 and change. I'll take that deal any day of the week! And to be honest, I'm really excited to get my toosh into the gym on Monday morning.

Moral of the story, when you're lacking motivation, go buy yourself something! Just kidding. Kind of.

Have any great workouts??
